Momiji Fuyou (芙蓉 紅葉, Fuyō Momiji^? ) is a side character in the Shuffle series. She was the wife of Mikio Fuyou and the mother of Kaede Fuyou.

Background

Momiji was killed in a car accident that also took both of Rin Tsuchimi's parents. Her only appearance in the visual novels is a flashback during Shuffle! Essence+ and as a secondary character in Really? Really when she helps Kaede Fuyou's friends get her memory back.

The death of Momiji was the reason for Kaede's initial resentment of Rin, believing it to be his fault that she had died.

Really? Really!

Momiji appears in Kaede Fuyou's dream world to help her friends recover her memory. Much like the other parents, she tended to embarrass her daughter. During Kaede's flashbacks, she frequently hints to Rin that he is allowed to take Kaede anytime he wants, resulting in much embarrassment for Kaede. However, Rin usually remained unconcerned.

Nonetheless, it was shown in the flashbacks that she also was a doting and caring parent, where she attended all the important dates about her daughter and Rin. She buys a camera just to photograph the Sunshine Academy Graduation of Kaede and Rin.

Etymology

• The name Momiji means "autumn leaves/autumn colors, maple" (紅葉).
• Momiji's surname Fuyou means "lotus, Mt. Fuji" (芙) (fu) and "lotus" (蓉) (you).
