Raito Aioi (相生 頼斗 Aioi Raito? ) is the protagonist of the Shuffle! Episode 2 and Princess x Princess. He is a 2nd year at Verbena Academy in Class 2A.
Background[]
Raito is a half-orphan, his father dying in a plane crash along with his cousin, Kohaku's parents. His mother works developing medical devices that use magic. Due to her work she spends most of the time overseas. Therefore, Raito lives in an apartment with Kohaku.
At first glance, he might seem a bit boring, but in reality, Raito has a very gentle personality. He likes taking things one day a time and appreciates the simple things in life. He tends to spend his time doing nothing at all and resting. He doesn't belong to any clubs, and often stops by the supermarket in the shopping district on his way home from school.
Kohaku is quite lazy, so that leaves cooking and housework to Raito, who actually enjoys it and quite skilled at it. He is also good at keeping things organized.
In the events of Princess x Princess, Raito chooses Lithia and the two are dating.

- Kohaku Anjou: Cousin and roommate.
- Torajirou Jinbo: Best friend.
- Nelia: He became her love interest when he didn't fall for her temptation as other boys did.
- Limes: Domestic partner.
- Lithia: His girlfriend in the events of Princess x Princess. Lithia enjoys the one-on-one sweet relationship she has with Raito, but in the future it's ideal for her to have a polygamy marriage like her parents.
Etymology[]
His name comes from the "iolight" gemstone.
- The name Raito means "rely" (頼) (rai) and "Dipper" (斗) (to).
- Raito's surname Aioi means "joint growth, twins" (相生).
